Bass Strait Cup 2026, Big Night of Boxing in Latrobe

What a night. On Friday 9 May 2026, Latrobe Memorial Hall came alive for the 2026 Bass Strait Cup, with Tasmania and Victoria going head to head in a cracking night of amateur boxing put on by Team Woods Boxing Gym.
The card delivered twelve formal bouts and five exhibition matches across weight divisions from 32kg through to 90kg. Tasmanian boxers from Team Woods Boxing Club, Georgetown Boxing Club, O'Callaghan Boxing Club, Tigers Den Boxing Club, Mckeowns Boxing Gym, Kingston Boxing Club,Blackwell Boxing Troupe,Underdog Boxing and Circular Head Boxing Club all stepped up to represent the state, with the exhibition bouts adding further depth to the night by pairing boxers of varying experience.
Across the twelve formal bouts, Victoria edged ahead to take home the cup, but our Tasmanian fighters put on a strong showing across multiple clubs and made them work for every win.
